kick off: Using any materials, create a word square for the following – stimulus and response.

3. In groups, determine which stimulus-response reactions are internal and external. Provide students with a transparency and marker, or chart paper to make a T-chart.

Sensitivity is the ability of a living thing to detect changes that take place both outside and inside of its body. These changes are called stimuli and the reactions to them are called responses. Stimuli that start outside the body are called external stimuli. Some important external stimuli are light, heat, water and the presence of other organisms.
