About

Welcome to Mr. Eyler’s I.B.M.Y.P. Science Classes

It is exciting to see a new school year upon us. I am eager to see what this new academic year has to offer you and your child.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Paul Eyler and I have taught several years at James Hogg Middle School.  I am teaching 6th , 7th , and 8th grade IBMYP science classes. I have previously taught Outdoor Education at Sky Ranch and have taught in universities overseas in Central Asia. I love kids, I love to teach and I love to have fun. My favorite thing is finding adventures outdoors and experiencing creation around us.
I strive to teach a balanced view in all arenas of science, while teaching with depth and complexity. My goal is to show students how to think for themselves, using knowledge and evidence to encourage their understanding of the world around them. I seek to have serious scientific methodology through logical thinking and laboratory work, while employing intuitive and fun activities to keep the students motivated and excited about science.
Thank you Steve Phillips for creating this page in the 2008-2009 James S. Hogg Yearbook.
I believe each student is invaluable. Each one should be encouraged, respected and loved. Students have different learning styles and should be included in a teamwork approach. As I have experienced, hands on learning helps to demonstrate the real world application of knowledge. I seek to help each student mature and develop leadership skills, self-sufficiency and self-discipline. I truly want to expect the best of each child. I also seek to incorporate many different fields of study into every class in order to accentuate the inter relatedness of all courses and so advance a holistic view of knowledge.
I will have posted most of our activities, assignments, and weekly schedule on this class website. I look forward to serving you and your child this year.
Sincerely,
Paul Eyler
